Then they can restart the cycle, constant research cycle

Print Research

http://www.thedieline.com/blog/2011/9/27/draw-in-light.html

An interesting format, and a nice interactive element. I like how it continues to fold out. I also like the colour scheme.

This looks like wet ink, its really innovative, and eye-catching. Its different, slick and modern.

We created a bespoke logo that was then embossed across all of our stationery, creating a latex texture on uncoated paper. We used a color palette set in black & white, with a hint of turquoise to demonstrate the attention to detail we like to achieve with all of our projects.

Designed by BCMH. Printed on 'Vibrant Arsenic' & 'Go to Hell Black' from the Gmund Action paper range.

This shows that a choice of stock can make a big difference. A considered, professional stock will create a better finish.

The de- emboss really stands out on this piece, there is no ink on the paper but the cover is still so effective, it adds almost a new dimension . Its very simple, but effective, and modern.

An interesting way of showing parts of the process, a new kind of info graphic. There is a lot of detail, the example below, is de- embossed. It is also a metallic ink, and so I can see there has been a lot of effort put in, and print is being used to a more advanced level.

(I also really like how this image is showing how the ink works in the CMYK process , how it builds up)

This is a digital print, the photograph gives this away. It is a really good quality and it is strong against the crisp white stock. Very clean and minimal.

The posters above and below, are innovative, they are not just a flat image, they are interactive, I also like the clash of the black and the bright colour. The font is also in a shade of the bright colour, and it works well.

I feel that this set of posters have a really interesting concept. 'expanding' across three posters, actually gives the feeling of growth.

A different way of showing the a series paper dimensions, although I don't think it works as well as the original grid. But this is also an example of monochrome printing, and the ability to use negative space to create shapes, numbers/ letters.

This piece is interesting as the invitation has not been printed on something conventional, it is eye catching. The content is purely pink and it works due to a variety of shades, materials and finishes ( the envelope is foiled). The acrylic is edgier, and bright.

Again I really like the darker background with the almost neon colours. It looks almost edgy and current. It also contrast well and the neon works well on both black and white.

A really relevant concept for print, again taking something simple, but making it effective.

Further Research relevant to the concept and format ...

Pantone...
http://www.pantone.co.uk/pages/pantone/index.aspx

For my idea I began by looking at format, I really like the pantone swatch books, I think that they are less conventional to a book, and quite handy. Also as pantone is a colour process I felt it was a suitable concept to explore.

On the site I found that the pantone books are stored in different formats, below I like the way the two books are package the vertical orientation is interesting.

However I saw this and I really like the way the books stuck out of the box and I felt that I could adapt this to my own idea. The way the books are kept together and displayed at the same time is interesting and useful. More interesting than just being stored away in shelf or a cupboard.
How the pantone books cascade out is interesting , however the vertical orientation doesn't offer much scope when placing content onto the pages.

I did have a look at an actual pantone book to get a feel for the dimensions. I think that after looking at this , I feel that if I was to create a pantone-style book it would need to be wider. I also feel that the pantone book is very thick as it is full of swathes, my book would not need to be this thick, but I would need to consider how the book would stand depending on its thickness.
