The Brief was to create a strong visual identity, branding and all design collateral for the event.A black and gold theme was used throughout all design work to help highlight the sterling reputation of the festival to honour and focus on their efforts in showcasing great pieces of art to an eager and diverse audience, also to create original eye-catching outcomes to help successfully promote and bring attention to the festival.

includes way finding

I wrote down lots of notes and discussed ideas with friends, I felt like I needed a larger project. I started to think about an event. I thought about an exhibition but I wondered whether that was appropriate and who would actually go to an exhibition. Someone I was speaking to mentioned a conference, I wasn't too sure what a conference involved, but I found that its quite an academic and specialist event, where speakers will speak to other similar people about a specific topic. I thought that I could create a dream conference where speakers would talk about the concept of dreaming and other related topics. However I don't want the conference to be preaching, and I want the conference to be more discussion, and debated. More philosophical and realistic… in a sense.

I also thought that a conference maybe inaccessible to the general public, or people that aren't academics, I wanted to broaden the audience to young adults and adults , a similar audience of Inception, perhaps a more intellectual audience but still more public than academics etc.

A conference is a meeting of people who "confer" about a topic.
Academic conference, in science and academia, a formal event where researchers present results, workshops, and other activities.

A festival or gala is an event ordinarily staged by a local community, which centers on and celebrates some unique aspect of that community and the Festival.

A convention, in the sense of a meeting, is a gathering of individuals who meet at an arranged place and time in order to discuss or engage in some common interest. The most common conventions are based upon industry, profession, and fandom.

Oneirology (/ɒnɨˈrɒləi/; from Greek ὄνειροςoneiros, "dream"; and -λογία, -logia, "the study of") is the scientific study of dreams. Current research seeks correlations between dreaming and current knowledge about the functions of the brain, as well as understanding of how the brain works during dreaming as pertains to memory formation and mental disorders. The study of oneirology can be distinguished from dream analysis in that the aim is to quantitatively study the process of dreams instead of analyzing the meaning behind them.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oneirology

Oneironautics refers to the purported ability to travel within a dream, usually on a conscious basis. A traveler in a dream may be called an oneironaut.

Dr. Stickgold studies the role of sleep and dreaming in learning and memory processes. He has studied how dreams change in response to mental challenges, ranging from computer games to living in a zero gravity environment on the International Space Station.

Bob Stickgold is a native of Chicago. He attended college at Harvard University, and received his PhD in biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He is currently an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and serves as the Director of Harvard's Center for Sleep and Cognition. “WHO ATTENDS CONFERENCES?”

The individuals who attend conferences are the doers and the thinkers. They are the individuals who want to learn and expand their knowledge, and to meet other people in their field. There are conferences for all types of disciplines. Whether you are a chemistry major looking for a place to discuss your research, or an undeclared major looking for a place to network and learn interviewing skills, there is something out there for everyone.
